Junior Consultant

Full-time | £21-24k + quarterly bonus + pension | Remote working

About the role:

There be Giants is looking for the next Giant to join the team. This is a big step for TBG as you will be our first Junior Consultant so we’re super excited to make sure it works out for all of us.

Working alongside one of our Senior Consultants, you will support them on client projects and also you will have the responsibility of owning the most precious thing we have – our methodology. This means that when changes are made, you’ll be the one to make them. We take a “software-style” approach to how we manage our methodology which means you’ll own the release roadmap so updates are scheduled.

Being a small team, we all have to pitch in so you’ll also have responsibility for account management. That means managing onboarding and then maintaining the relationship after their project has finished. We are pretty much a zoom-powered team so it’s vital that you are able to work remotely and can keep your focus even when Netflix or daytime TV is calling. There will be a need for you to spend some time with us in person so it’s important you are local to the North West.

We work with some amazing clients all around the world (places like Argentina, New Zealand, Singapore, North America) so you will find yourself working outside the regular 9-5 sometimes. Also, when the world opens back up, it’s likely there will be opportunities for international travel.

We don’t think it’s the right thing to “get married” right away – you need time to try us out and we do you – so there will be a six-month try-on-for-size period.

There Be Giants OKR implementation team

The experience you will have:

Given we are an OKR consultancy, it’s vital that you can demonstrate knowledge of OKRs, even though you may not have worked hands-on with them yet. We also want you to have experience of working with agile project management practices.

As you are going to be working directly with our clients, alongside our Senior Consultants, it is vital that you have experience of facilitating workshops and delivering presentations.

Tools wise, we use G-suite so it would be good for you to have experience of that plus we also run on mac. Experience of using e-learning tools for learning design would be an advantage too.

Given you will have responsibility for account management, it would be good for you to have experience of managing client relationships.

The qualities we are looking for:

  • Sees possibilities, not problems and so able to form solution
  • Has an appetite for learning and soaks up knowledge like a sponge
  • Is a natural innovator with a test/learn/adapt approach to their work
  • Has a very high level of self-management and discipline
  • Will have other team members backs as they will have theirs
  • Just as comfortable working over Zoom as face-to-face
  • Experienced in presenting/facilitating either remotely or in-person
  • Confident in front of Executive teams
  • Spots opportunities for improvement and seizes them
  • Doesn’t dwell on setbacks
  • Flexible in the hours they work given the range of timezones we work in
  • Absolutely no sign of a “not my job” attitude
  • Must like dogs

How we want you to align with our values:

Stand Tall – be confident, willing to share their thoughts and make a contribution both within team TBG and also with clients

Be Real – be down-to-earth, honest and without the waffle and bull that is often associated with Consultants

Think Big – can make connections and understand how the big picture looks, whether it’s understanding how our Methodology fits together or a client’s strategy

Strive to be better – always learning without being prompted, always looking for ideas to develop the TBG methodology further. Keen to receive feedback and act upon it.

About There be Giants:

We are a little business which punches well above our weight. Through our niche focus on OKRs, we have become world-renowned for our work and our thinking around how to implement and use them. We’ve worked with household names like ITV, Talk Talk and IKEA but it’s not all about the big boys, we do a lot of work with high-growth companies in what we call the “sub-corporate” level at about 200-500 people.

There’s only a few of us, but we flex in number as projects require. The team is remote in location but not in nature; being a tight-knit bunch ours is a supportive yet challenging and straight-talking team who always have each other’s backs. Team politics can get lost as far as we’re concerned.
